The Benefits of NAC
NAC or N-Acetylcysteine is an amino acid that has many benefits when used as a supplement. It is one of the three amino acids your body uses to make glutathione—your body’s most powerful antioxidant and detoxification molecule.
NAC can be used to boost detoxification and reduce oxidative stress in the body. It helps thin mucous which can help clear it from the respiratory tract and has been used medically for this purpose and for liver toxicity for decades.
Studies have shown a reduction in symptomatic flu and improvements in immunity with a dosage of 600mg twice daily. It is one supplement that is often found in covid prevention/treatment strategies and it is also one of the main supplements I keep stocked in my natural first aid kit for concussions.
While NAC helps boost glutathione, glutathione itself can be taken in supplement form and is one of the main supplements I have found success in treating people with on-going symptoms from covid such as brain fog and fatigue. Covid causes a storm of oxidative stress in your body and the glutathione goes in and mops it all up. The only one I recommend is lyposomal glutathione.
