Bowen Therapy is a healing technique developed by Australian healer Tom Bowen in the 1950’s. Since then, this incredibly effective technique has spread across the world and revolutionized many healing practices.
Bowen Therapy is primarily used for relieving musculoskeletal aches and pains, but is also beneficial for improving the health of the whole body.
A Bowen Therapy session consists of a series of gentle manipulations throughout specific points in the body, many of which correspond to acupuncture points. These gentle “moves” release tension and balance energy flow. Between each set of manipulations, the practitioner leaves the room for 2 minutes to allow the client to relax and integrate the corrective moves.
Corrections can be applied to the whole body—the knees, shoulders, jaw, tailbone, spine, feet, elbows and wrists, hips—and used to target specific organs such as the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, lungs and digestive system. Typically only one or two treatments are required for simple problems.
Bowen therapy is gentle and effective. It often helps those who haven’t found relief with other methods.
